For this unit, knowing everything you can about the 14th Amendment's due process and equal protection clauses is essential. This unit is all about civil rights, including suffrage and citizenship. The post civil war amendments (13th, 14th, and 15th) are the basis of civil rights for African Americans. The 14th was also used for incorporation purposes in order to apply the bill of rights to the states. The 15th, along with 19th and 26th, which gave suffrage to freed African Americans, women, and 18 year-olds, respectively. Judicial review is also a huge factor in Unit 3. Marbury v.
